U.S.S. Lexington aka "The Blue Ghost"

We had the opportunity this past weekend to "Live Aboard" the USS Lexington in Corpus Christi with Hunter & Jacob's Cub Scout troop. It is a Navy aircraft carrier that is permenantly docked. The crew was great. The kids had to do push ups if they were caught running, and had to dance in front of the entire ship if they were caught with their hands in their pockets or hats "ghetto cocked." Our children were too scared of them to do either of those things. We toured the entire boat which was quite exhausting! I have a new found respect for our sailors! This is an idea of what the berthing quarters looked like. They are 3 deep bunk beds. TINY!
What have they done this time? The boys having fun looking out of the bottom of the boat into the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. HA!
All 3 with one of the many military planes on the flight deck. 5 points if you can identify the plane. Kyle?
The boys taking out some of those pesky Kamikaze pilots with the .50 Caliber machine gun.
No sea creatures were harmed in the process of posting this blog!
Hunter & Jack with the "Lady Lex" in the background. Play "Where's Waldo" and see if you can find Jacob?

We were asked to "retire the flag" at the Taps ceremony. We were very proud of the entire troop, as this was their first attempt at folding a flag. Not as easy as you might think! Niklas was especially instrumental in the ceremony. Good job guys!
Reville came very early the next morning after a 2330 Lights out. That's 11:30 pm for those who don't know. That is all. Carry on!

And the Lady Lex is a small carrier by today's standards. Alan was supposed to land on her when he was in flight training but she went into the yards for some kind of maintenance and he landed on the America instead.

Glad you all had fun.
